Reynolds died about a year ago at age 82, but his legendary status lives on. It was owned by Reynolds and his business partner, Gene Kennedy, according to Julien’s. The 1979 Trans Am has about 70,000 miles on the odometer and reported is in great condition, thanks in part to a recent restoration.
The actor also posed with the car for photo shoots, adding further to its value.
That, and many other personal items owned by the late Reynolds were auctioned off In Beverly Hills by Julien’s, which is based in Culver City. The car is similar to what he famously drove in Smokey and the Bandit II, and should go for a good-sized fortune. Over the weekend, one lucky person will became the proud new owner of Burt Reynolds’ personal 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
